I have decided to participate in this years Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2010. The image below is my submission, which got into the second selection for the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London.

The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2010 will showcase the work of some the most talented emerging young photographers, alongside photographs from established professionals, photography students and gifted amateurs.

The image title is: Tamara, a pefume addict. This image belongs to a series, which will hopefully be exhibited soon. I will keep you updated.

Looking through my old images, I have found a photograph, which I have taken a year ago. The sea on the south west coast of France was really rough and we noticed a few people standing at the waterfront. As we got closer we saw a couple of guys in the water, surfing in the massive waves. The photo had to be cropped and lost some quality, but I still love it.

I decided to experiment a bit more with infrared photography and have taken this shot in Clapham Common Park in London today. I have used a long exposure of around 5 minutes to capture this shot. Since the sun was not too strong at the time, the photograph has some extra noise, but I think it just adds to the character of the image.

I had the pleasure to go on a helicopter sightseeing tour of London yesterday with the London Helicopter centre in Redhill Surrey. The trip was taken with a AS 350 Squirrel. With 140 mph top speed we reached London in just a few minutes to fly along the River Thames giving me some opportunities to make use of my camera. The weather could have been better, as most of central London was covered in mist, covering the glass of the helicopter. However I still managed to get some quite nice shots of famous locations such as Battersea Power Station, Houses of Parliament, London Eye and the City of London with its skyscrapers. I have added a few images to my galleries.

I went to the World Naked Bike Ride 2010 in London and Brighton again to take some photographs. Every year in cities around the world people ride bikes naked to celebrate cycling and the human body. The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against car culture. I have uploaded some galleries on www.bikewars.co.uk

Below is on of the images from the London ride.

Due to the second volcanic ash cloud, coming  as a result of the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano, our return flights from Lanzarote have been delayed by seven days. This gave me more opportunity to take photographs, including shots from a nightdive and some exciting kite-surf stunts.

I love freediving and Lanzarote offers a lot of different places to explore the underwater world where you can find school of small to large fish, Angel Sharks, Stingrays, TriggerFish, Sepia and more.

One  amazing location for freediving is a spot between Puerto del Carmen and Porto Calero. If you swim about 70 meters off shore, you can view 2 wrecks in around 20 meters depth. I have managed to take a panorama of both of these, which I will include in my Lanzarote Gallery.

Below is one of the panoramas of the wrecks I have explored

Having spent our Christmas Eve with friends in the country side, we were able to enjoy a nice walk through a quite winterly landscape. Gogi, their companion came along and obviously enjoyed running through the snow and playing with other dogs that passed us along the way. Below you can see Gogi waiting up for us.

I have never seen such a well fed squirrel before, until we got stalked by this very friendly example. Just a moment before it fed on some wheat someone put out for the birds I assume, when it noticed us and provided a perfect model for this photograph.

Just came back from Tolouse in France and enjoyed myself for a few days. We had a walk with friends on the Rivert Garonne in the early evening hours. The bridge “Pont Neuf”, which is actually the oldest bridge of Toulouse featured a lovely display of changing colours introduced by illumination from below.

I went to the Clapham Common Fireworks Display, which started yesterday at 7.30pm. The display was really great and surprisingly was free to attend. If you go to the Battersea Park one on Saturday, then you will have to fork out £7….

Made me feel like new year!
